Serenata

For Flute and Trumpet

Duration: 6 mins approx.

Composer's Note

Serenata was commissioned by Adriana Ferreira (principal flute of Rome’s Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia) to play as a duo piece with Alfonso González Barquín (principal trumpet of the same orchestra).  The piece - which is predominantly breezy and playful in nature - is structured in a loose sonata form with a lyrical serenade episode standing in place of a development section.  As in many of my works, the influence of church bells can be detected in much of the material.
